Traumatic spine and spinal cord injuries (SCIs) are life changing. Whilst the injuries are devastating to the individuals physical & mental state, there is also a major socio-economic impact on society.
Research is advancing our knowledge of the pathophysiology of SCI, and leading to the development of promising neuroprotective agents. However, at present & for the foreseeable future surgical intervention remains the bedrock of the treatment of this condition.
